Below, you'll find boating directions to help guide you to Nokomo’s Sunset Hut. Local boating knowledge is strongly recommended, as water depths, tides, and navigational conditions can vary. All boaters navigate and dock at their own risk. Direction start point location is Snake Island by the North and South Jetty!
DIRECTION START POINT: SNAKE ISLAND
To navigate by boat from Snake Island to Nokomo's Sunset Hut in Nokomis, Florida, you will head northeast into the channel leading into Dona Bay.
The general rule of thumb for this specific stretch is to take the channel on the north side of Bird Island. Since you are traveling from a larger body of water (the Gulf/Inlet) into a smaller, narrower waterway (the bay/river), you are technically "returning" upstream.
Follow these marker steps to reach the docks safely:
Spot Marker 1: As you enter the mouth of the channel past Snake Island, look for Channel Marker 1.
Red Right Return: Keep your red markers on your starboard (right) side and green markers on your port (left) side as you head inland.
Approach the US-41 Bridge: Follow the markers all the way up toward the Tamiami Trail (US-41) Bridge.
Before the bridge: Do not go between the last marker and the bridge. Go to the RIGHT of the last green marker.
Head South to the Dock: Just before you reach the bridge structure, cut south toward the shoreline.
Nokomo's Sunset Hut is situated right on the water at Waypoint: N27 07.055, W82 27.040.
